Commercially Available Tests
Commercially available "published" tests are those tests produced by companies as stand alone products (i.e. not published in a journal or book). In general if you want one of these tests you will have to purchase it. They can be expensive. Here are major sources for information on publisher contacts and pricing.
- TestLink (Educational Testing Service) Indexes 25,000+ tests with purchasing information. Some can be purchased online and downloaded.
- Mental Measurements Yearbook Price information is reported for test packages (usually 20 to 35 tests), answer sheets, all other accessories, and specimen sets.
- IBISWEB Library Catalog The Library has a very few commercial tests in its collection. Search by test name for availability.
You can also try Interlibrary Loan.
Unpublished Free Tests
Many tests can be found in journals and books. Here are a few ways to search them out.
- Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI) database Check the "Primary Source" limiter before searching to find items that include the actual testing instrument.
- ERIC Search for "test*" in the field "Publication Type" or else select "Test/Questionnaire" from the "Publication Type" Limiter
- PsycINFO Add the following text "pt=test/survey appended" to your advanced search to find articles that include tests.
- SDSU Test Finder San Diego State's library created this searchable index of tests found in reference books in their library. Use this to find citations to books and look them up in IBISWEB, the Library Catalog.
- Tests and Measures in the Social Sciences: Tests available in compilation volumes An online index to tests available in commonly held books. Find a test here and then look up the book in our library.
